Graduated in Philology from the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade Clássica de Lisboa (1975) and with additional training in the areas of Pedagogical Training of Trainers (1989) and Leadership of the Public Administration (1998); in 1980 Margarida joined the DGEMN, as Head of Documentation Division (until 1993) and Director of Inventory and Dissemination Services (1993 to 2007). Coordinator and author of various projects carried out by ICCROM, UNESCO, and the Getty Institute; in 2008 Margarida took on the position of Advisor at Turismo de Portugal where she remained until 2012.
