For this edition, the Biennial will be a hybrid coupling online and in presence dimensions. For the first time ever, the Biennial with include a digital platform with events on show between June and October 2021, and locally around the area of the Comunidade Intermunicipal da Região de Leiria. The main on site venue will be the city of Leiria, over four days from 14 to 17 October.
As always, the Biennial comprises a wide EXHIBITION area about the heritage sector, both on site and in digital form, and extensive PROGRAMMING: seminars, courses, heritage training activities, concerts, performance acts, arts and crafts workshops, visits, tours, exhibitions, digital competitions and a lot more.
AR&PA 2021 is also the stage to the first edition of the PATRIMONIO.PT AWARDS.
Topic: Youth and Heritage
AR&PA 2021 is dedicated to the topic YOUTH AND HERITAGE.
Portugal ranks the lowest in the European mapping for the consumption of cultural heritage by people aged between 15 and 24.
This age group are frequent consumers of music, film and technology collectively, but shown to be disengaged with their heritage.
The importance of youth’s relationship with heritage goes well beyond the ‘knowledge increase’ dimension. The establishing of ties of identity and affection with heritage will result in the greater economic, cultural and social balance of regions.
AR&PA 2021 takes the younger to the heritage stage and behind it.
