Graduated in Philology from the Faculty of Arts of the Classical University of Lisbon (1975) and with additional training in the areas of Pedagogical Training for Trainers (1989) and Leadership in Public Administration (1998); in 1980 she joined the DGEMN, as Head of the Documentation Division (until 1993) and Director of Inventory and Dissemination Services (1993 to 2007).

Coordinator and author of various projects carried out by ICCROM, UNESCO and the Getty Institute; in 2008 she took up the post of Advisor at Turismo de Portugal.
