What is the Iberian Biennial of Cultural Heritage?
AR&PA – the Iberian Biennial of Cultural Heritage is the flagship event in the field of cultural heritage, the prime meeting point and debating arena for heritage professionals and institutions. Its exhibition court and the diversity of academic and professional meetings, adding to its social programme, make this a unique event and a reference in its field. AR&PA attests to the importance of heritage as a source of perpetual inspiration for everyone.
In 2021, AR&PA is moving to Leiria to engage with a burning issue, that of Youth and Heritage. The hybrid programming divides into online and local events across the Leiria region, taking place from June till October 2021. Between 14 and 17 October AR&PA concentrates in the city of Leiria’s old quarter.
AR&PA – the Iberian Biennial of Cultural Heritage is organised by Spira - revitalização patrimonial in partnership with Fundação Millennium BCP, the Ministry of Culture / DGPC, the Ministry of Economy / Turismo de Portugal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs / AICEP - Portugal Global, along with the promoter for Spain, the Junta of Castile and León. The event is held under the high patronage of the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic with support from UNESCO’s national commission for Portugal.
The 2021 edition is promoted by the Comunidade Intermunicipal da Região de Leiria. The Biennial is a founding member of HERIFAIRS – the European Network of Heritage Fairs, with institutions and professionals from Spain, Italy, Austria, Turkey and Belgium present.
